Electrical permits and inspections
Permits taken out and signed off in-house, as a Master Electrician and Class B Field Safety Representative under a TSBC contractor licence.
Most electrical work in British Columbia needs a permit, and a permit can only be taken out by a licensed electrical contractor with a qualified Field Safety Representative. Work done without one can fail at sale, at insurance renewal, or at a municipal inspection.
Chang’s EMSD holds the FSR-B qualification and the contractor licence directly, which means permits with Technical Safety BC and with municipalities that run their own electrical inspections are handled as part of the job rather than subcontracted.
This also covers work someone else started: unpermitted or failed work can often be corrected, permitted and inspected properly.
- Technical Safety BC electrical permits
- Municipal electrical permits where the city inspects directly
- Declaration and sign-off as Field Safety Representative
- Coordination with the inspector through to a passed inspection
- Correcting and permitting work carried out without a permit
- Documentation for sale, insurance or strata records
